Once you have identified the surface you want to replicate, add the curing agent and thixotropic agent to the silicone and mix thoroughly. To ensure even distribution of the curing agent and thix, it can be helpful to add color to the silicone as well. This also helps differentiate multiple silicone molds. You can use either our silicone colorant or natural pigments. Note: PRO pigments are not compatible with silicone.
If you do not intend to use the entire batch of silicone at once, add the corresponding curing agent and thix amount, only to the portion you need.
You are now ready to apply the silicone. Start with a thin layer to ensure the silicone fills all the details. Once the thin layer is applied and all details are properly covered, add a thicker layer of 5-10 mm. This layer provides the mold with the strength to be reused multiple times.
Allow the silicone to cure for 4-5 hours. It can be beneficial to cover the back with a piece of plastic to smooth it and protect the silicone from dust, debris, wind, or animals if casting outdoors.
After 4-5 hours, carefully peel the silicone mold off.
You can also follow the step-by-step process in the video below. Note that the silicone shown in the video may differ, but the application method is largely the same.
