MakeMake Waterproofing Membrane

MakeMake Waterproofing Membrane is specially designed for sealing concrete pools or other concrete surfaces that need to withstand high water pressure, such as waterfalls, streams, garden ponds, or concrete aquariums.

The membrane is applied to a smoothed concrete surface. It is a flexible rubber-based coating that is brushed onto the concrete where a waterproof layer is required. The membrane is easy to work with, typically using 1–2.5 kg per m², although rougher surfaces may require slightly more. The standard membrane is light gray, but our color pigments can be added if a different color is desired.

Note: This waterproofing membrane is not suitable for sealing wood.

MakeMake Waterproofing Membrane is a two-component system, consisting of a liquid and a powder that must be mixed into a thick, paintable consistency suitable for application on concrete. Color pigments can be added to the otherwise white membrane, or after application, the membrane can be coated with MakeMake Colour Fix mixed with pigments. Both methods ensure the concrete is sealed and resistant to constant water exposure.

Substrate Temperature: min. 5 °C – max. 35 °C
Mixing Instructions: Pour the liquid component 1 into a clean mixing container and gradually add powder component 2 while stirring thoroughly with a suitable mortar mixer until you achieve a creamy, lump-free consistency. Let it stand 1–2 minutes to fully saturate, then mix briefly again. Do not mix more than can be used within 40 minutes. Avoid application in direct sunlight.
Pot Life: 40 minutes at 20°C (substrate and ambient temperature)

Surface Preparation:
The substrate must be solid, clean, and free of porous cement laitance or other contaminants that may reduce adhesion. Remove old coatings, defective plaster, etc. Before application, pre-wet the substrate thoroughly without leaving surface water.

Application:
Apply the first layer thoroughly using a lime brush, sprayer, brush, or trowel. If the material appears stiff during application, do not add water; instead, re-wet the substrate. Let the first layer cure for at least 30 minutes up to 2 hours before applying the next coat. Moisten the first layer and remove excess water. The second layer can also be brushed, rolled, or troweled on.

Consumption: 1–2.5 kg/m²
Walkable after 24 hours at 23°C. Suitable for surface load after 24 hours. Can withstand water exposure after approximately 24 hours.

Cleaning: Clean tools immediately with water. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.

Shelf Life: 12 months. Store dry and frost-free in tightly sealed packaging.
