Liquid Latex is a versatile material designed for professional use in mold-making, coating, and special effects applications. It can be brushed on or used for dipping, depending on the production setup. For optimal results, apply multiple thin layers, allowing each to dry completely before applying the next. The latex will turn slightly yellowish when dry, indicating readiness for the next coat. A total of 20-30 layers is recommended for durable molds.
To increase viscosity and reduce application time, add 1-5% thickener after the initial 5-10 layers to Liquid Latex. This enables the application of thicker coats, although drying time will increase accordingly.
Once the mold reaches the desired thickness and the final layer is fully cured, it is ready for use.
Guide to Creating a Latex Mold:
Please note that liquid latex cures by air-drying, which means it cannot be used for pour-casting around the object you want to replicate. For casting by pouring material around the model, we recommend using our Liquid Silicone instead.
Latex molds are also compatible with all types of casting concrete. Certain concrete mixtures generates high heat during the curing process, which can cause the latex mold to soften and become tacky. For heat-intensive materials, use silicone molds for optimal durability and release properties.
