Storage and Temperature Requirements:
Colour Fix should be stored and applied at temperatures between 5°C and 60°C. Maintaining the correct temperatures ensures optimal adhesion, curing and long-term performance.
Surface Preparation and Application:
Before applying Colour Fix, ensure that ConcreteClay surfaces are clean and free from oil, grease, or other contaminants. When applying multiple coats, allow each layer to fully dry before adding the next. For best results, after completing all coats, keep the finished item indoors for a number of days equal to the number of layers applied. Applying Colour Fix outdoors before it is fully cured may cause the finish to turn milky or cloudy when exposed to moisture. Once Colour Fix is applied to ConcreteClay, no additional treatment is necessary.
Special Applications:
- Aquarium Backgrounds: Colour Fix prevents direct contact between water and ConcreteClay, helping pH fluctuations in aquatic environments.
- Plaster Casts: Can be used as a sealant or as a base for painting, providing a protective finish.
Important Note:
When creating plaster casts in alginate molds, exercise caution if using petroleum jelly (Vaseline) as a release agent. Residual Vaseline can contaminate the plaster surface, preventing Colour Fix from adhering properly. Following these guidelines ensures durable, high-quality results.
