MakeMake Liquid Natural Latex is ideal for creating molds for casting in materials such as liquid concrete or plaster. It also functions as a textile adhesive, making it perfect for tufting projects, applying to the back of rugs or artworks, or providing a non-slip surface for the underside of slippers and other items.

Our latex contains only 0.2% ammonia, compared to 6% in standard latex, minimizing odor and irritation. The ammonia is non-hazardous but may irritate the respiratory system, so we recommend working in a well-ventilated area. The latex has a rubber content of 61%.

Storage & Handling: Liquid latex and latex molds are not UV-resistant and must be stored in a dark environment. Work should not be performed in direct sunlight. Latex is also incompatible with oils and our Metal PRO pigments. We recommend storing liquid latex between 10°C and 30°C.

Liquid Natural Latex can be applied with a brush or by dipping the object directly into the latex. After applying each layer, the latex must fully dry before the next layer is applied. The latex is fully dry when it turns yellowish or changes color. For best results, apply 20–30 thin layers. Thin layers provide optimal flexibility and strength.

You can increase the durability of your latex mold by placing it in a tumble dryer or oven at 70°C for about 2 hours. In the tumble dryer, include a damp towel; in the oven, place a bowl of water. This ensures maximum wear resistance and flexibility.

Liquid latex is also ideal for special effects makeup, where it can be brushed directly onto the skin or the skin can be dipped directly into the latex. Perfect for Halloween effects, artificial wounds, wrinkles, or torn skin. The latex has a milk-like consistency. MakeMake Thickener can be added to achieve a thicker consistency if desired. Once dried, latex turns slightly yellow or translucent. You can also mix MakeMake pigments into the latex to achieve different colors.

Allergy note: Some individuals may be allergic to latex. We recommend testing a small amount on the skin before full use.

Liquid latex can also be used as textile glue, including for tufting applications.

Thickener Usage: MakeMake Thickener can be added to create a richer, thicker latex. Add 1–5% thickener depending on the desired consistency. For 1 L of latex, use a maximum of 50 ml of thickener.

Pigmentation: To color your latex, mix in MakeMake color pigments.

Storage & Shelf Life: 6 months from purchase date if stored correctly.

Guide to Making Latex Molds:

Important: Since latex air-dries, it is not suitable for making molds by pouring latex over the object. For this method, use MakeMake Liquid Silicone instead.

Note: Latex molds are not suitable for all types of casting concrete. Some concrete can get very hot during curing, causing the latex mold to stick.
