Alginate – Professional Body Casting Compound

This high-fidelity alginate is engineered for detailed body casting, suitable for both adult subjects and paediatric applications, such as infant hand impressions.

Alginate Type Selection

  • Fast Setting (2.5 minutes): Recommended for infants or subjects requiring a rapid curing process. Note: Requires efficient application due to limited working time. We recommend conducting a test mix to familiarize yourself with the material's curing behaviour.
  • Normal Setting (4 minutes): Suitable for most general applications.
  • Slow Setting (10 minutes): Recommended for complex projects requiring extended working time.

Volume & Yield

  • Fast Setting Alginate: 1 bag yields approx. 1.5 L of casting compound.
  • Normal/Slow Setting Alginate: 1 bag yields approx. 2 L of casting compound.

Volume Calculation Protocol:

  1. Select a container appropriate for the subject's pose. Ensure sufficient clearance from the sides and bottom to allow for a uniform alginate layer, while minimizing material waste.
  2. Place the subject in the container and fill with water to the desired height.
  3. Measure the volume of water required to determine the necessary amount of alginate.
  • Example: If 2 Litres of water are required, you will need 1–2 bags, depending on the chosen type.
  • Paediatric Note: Infant hand castings typically require a small container (e.g., 0.5 L volume). One bag of Fast Setting Alginate is sufficient for approximately three infant casts.
