3D Casting Kit

EUR 19,95

This professional-grade kit is designed for high-fidelity replication. It contains 450g of Alginate and 1kg of high-performance Gypsum powder, which yields approximately 0.75L of finished casting mass once mixed.

Capacity & Yield:

Depending on the scale and complexity of your subject (e.g., biological specimens, anatomical casts, or architectural textures), a single kit provides sufficient material for 1–3 individual casts.

Technical Set-Time Variants:

  • "The Fast" (Rapid): 2.5-minute total working time. Ideal for time-sensitive moulding where subject movement must be minimised.
  • "The Normal" (Standard): 4-minute total working time. Optimized for coordinated multi-subject casts or artistic positioning.
  • "The Slow" (Extended): 10-minute total working time. Recommended for large-scale moulds, body casting, or complex positioning

Alginate & Extra-Strength Casting Gypsum

Our Alginate Rubber is the premier choice for high-precision life casting. Sourced from natural marine algae, this pH-neutral, non-toxic powder is engineered for elite detail reproduction - identical to the standards required in clinical dentistry.

Professional Capacity Estimates:

One 450g sachet provides sufficient material for:

  • 1 pair of interlocked adult hands (smaller sized hands).
  • Approx. 3 infant foot impressions.
  • 1 full adult foot impression.

*Yield depends on subject volume and vessel size.

Technical Variants:

"The Fast" Alginate

Ideal for time-sensitive moulding tasks where the subject cannot remain stationary for extended periods.

  • Mixing Ratio: 1.35L water per 450g powder (Yields approx. 1.5L mass).
  • Water Temperature: 23°C.
  • Mixing Phase: 45 sec (White to vivid pink).
  • Working Phase: 60 sec (Pink).
  • Setting Time: 45 sec (Returns to white when set).

"The Normal" Alginate

Optimised for coordinated casts or artistic moulds requiring additional preparation time for perfect positioning.

  • Mixing Ratio: 1.8L water per 450g powder (Yields approx. 2L mass).
  • Water Temperature: 35°C.
  • Mixing Phase: 2 min (Light blue to deep purple).
  • Working Phase: 70 sec (Light purple).
  • Setting Time: 60 sec (Returns to light blue when set).

"The Slow" Alginate

Designed for large-scale body casting and complex moulds where maximum working time is paramount.

  • Mixing Ratio: 1.8L water per 450g powder (Yields approx. 2L mass).
  • Water Temperature: 35°C.
  • Mixing Phase: 5 min (Light blue to deep purple).
  • Working Phase: 2 min (Light purple).
  • Setting Time: 3 min (Returns to light blue when set).

*Please note: All listed processing and setting times are for guidance only. Curing and working times may vary based on environmental factors, water temperature, and humidity levels on-site. For large-scale artistic installations or sensitive exhibit fabrication, we recommend performing a small-scale test to ensure the material responds correctly to your specific conditions.

Extra-Strength Casting Gypsum (40 MPa):
This industrial-grade gypsum is approximately 8 times stronger than standard plaster, reaching up to 40 MPa. It produces exceptionally robust and aesthetically superior casts, yielding 0.75L of mass per 1kg of powder.

  • Mixing Ratio: 1kg powder to approx. 330ml water.
  • Pot Life: 5 minutes.
  • Demould Time: 30 minutes.

Volume Calculation:

For high-precision artistic casting, accurate material estimation is essential for cost-efficiency. The volume of Alginate required is dictated by the complexity of the subject’s pose and the dimensions of the casting vessel.

While the subject's physical mass remains constant, an open-hand pose requires a significantly larger vessel than a compact pose, directly impacting the volume of Alginate needed. To minimise material waste in large-scale productions, select a vessel that provides only the necessary clearance to fully encapsulate the subject.

Technical Estimation Method:
To determine the precise Alginate volume for your project:

  1. Place the subject (or a prototype/replica) into the intended casting vessel.
  2. Fill the vessel with water to the required coverage height.
  3. Measure the water volume to establish the total displacement.

*Technical Note: Alginate moulds are single-use only and must be cast with Gypsum on the same day of manufacture to ensure dimensional stability and prevent dehydration-induced shrinkage.
